DIMENSION DATA PROVIDES SCALABILITY AND SECURITY TO LEADING CONTAINER TRANSPORTATION COMPANY

Hong Kong, China, January 12, 2018 /ChinaNewswire.com/ - DIMENSION DATA PROVIDES SCALABILITY AND SECURITY TO LEADING CONTAINER TRANSPORTATION COMPANY

Flexible software development network solutions reduce time needed to deploy virtual workloads and simplifies private cloud integration

Hong Kong, 9 Jan 2018 – Global ICT solutions and services provider, Dimension Data, has been chosen to provide Software Defined Network (SDN) solutions to one of the world’s largest integrated container transportation, logistics and terminal companies. Under the agreement, Dimension Data will provide them with a flexible virtual network provisioning and service chaining platform that can be deployed with their existing network infrastructure, eliminating the need for investing in new network hardware.

The organisation has consistently focused on providing customer-centric solutions through the use of information technology and innovation, including the use of e-commerce for the management of its cargo process. However, they faced limitations when the existing data centre network architecture failed to provide sufficient flexibility, multi-tenancy features and integration to their private cloud. To overcome these challenges, they are building a next-generation Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system on top of their IaaS cloud platform – and were seeking a solution that would facilitate this, as well as, allow scalability and secured multi-tenancy between carriers.

Dimension Data proposed a solution that unifies the network architecture within the data centre, simplifying processes for data centre expansion and migration. This would allow applications to be deployed as fast as possible and provide a holistic view in ensuring that the infrastructure meets the current and future requirements of the business. The solution approach aims to deliver tangible improvements to operations by shortening the time needed for data centre interconnects and for deploying virtual workloads. This will promote greater agility in scaling the ERP platform through the openstack infrastructure.

“We are excited to be working with one of the world’s largest integrated transport and logistics companies. They are known for their commitment to continuous innovation and services excellence. Our solutions approach and implementation will enable them to scale in an agile and secure manner and we are fully committed to supporting them to meet their evolving business needs and keep them at the forefront of innovation,” said Steven Medeiros, President, Dimension Data Hong Kong.

Molex Introduces Woodhead Super-SafewayPortable Power System

Hong Kong, China, January 11, 2018 /ChinaNewswire.com/ - Durable Woodhead power boxes, Woodhead wiring devices and Woodhead Safeway cable protectors team up to provide a rugged power delivery system

Molex introduces the Woodhead Super-Safeway Portable Power System, which combines the durability of Woodhead power boxes, the reliability of the Woodhead wiring devices and the innovative Woodhead Safeway cable protector into a single integrated solution for indoor or outdoor applications.

“Whether needed in an emergency situation, a special concert event or an everyday application, the need for strong, safe and durable power distribution always is a challenge,” said Tony Quebbemann, global product manager, Molex. “The combined strengths of the two product solutions from the Woodhead Safeway and Super-Safeway brands makes this Portable Power System a flexible and powerful device.”

The Woodhead Super-Safeway Power Boxes feature a vulcanized rubber enclosure that is resistant to shock, impact and corrosion. The boxes are just 29 pounds and the aluminum legs not only help to reduce the box’s weight but also give it a 6-inch ground clearance. It’s one of many features that makes the Woodhead Super Safeway Portable Power System compliant with UL, CSA, NEC and OSHA portable power delivery system standards for construction sites.

The boxes also feature color-coded straight-blade receptacles to help users balance their loads equally between phases, and a feed-through feature to allow multiple boxes to be placed on a single feeder.

The Woodhead wiring solutions include an angled outlet/GFCI outlet box, a 3-phase stringer set and a 50A power cord. The stringer receptacles also are color-coded to make 3-phase identification easier.

The Woodhead Safeway cable protection system has a 5-channel design that accommodates up to 1.25”-diameter cables (1.625” diameter cables center channel), and a convenient hinged lid to provide easy access, placement and removal of all cables. The cable protector also is strong, with a 16,3000-pound load capacity per tire, and a UV-stabilized material that resists exposure to sunlight.

“While this product has a wide variety of uses both indoors and outdoors, the durability and portability of the Woodhead Super Safeway Portable Power System makes it an important tool when flexible power distribution is needed,” Quebbemann said.

Nordic Semiconductor multiprotocol SoC links bicycle computer with user’s smartphone and Bluetooth Low Energy- or ANT-based cycling peripherals

Hong Kong, China, January 11, 2018 /ChinaNewswire.com/ - DaBuZiDuo’s XOSS SPRINT uses Nordic’s nRF52832 SoC to provide workout data analysis, offline maps, GPS navigation, and interoperability with third-party sensors

Nordic Semiconductor today announces that Shanghai, China-based cycling technology company, DaBuZiDuo, has integrated Nordic’s nRF52832 multiprotocol Bluetooth#174; Low Energy (Bluetooth LE)/ANT+#8482; System-on-Chip (SoC) into a multifunction bike computer.

Named ‘XOSS SPRINT’ the computer offers cycling enthusiasts a comprehensive range of performance benefits including professional workout data recording and analysis, global offline map rendering, and powerful GPS route navigation. The Bluetooth LE wireless connectivity enabled by the Nordic SoC then allows users to access key riding information via the ‘Xingzhe’ partner app on their compatible iOS or Android smartphones. The Xingzhe app already has nearly 10 million registered users.

In addition, DaBuZiDuo’s proprietary “Fusion” Dual Connection technology allows users to choose between Bluetooth LE and ANT+ wireless connectivity when linking complementary third-party devices to their XOSS SPRINT. Leveraging the nRF52832 SoC’s 2.4GHz multiprotocol radio and Nordic’s flexible RF software protocol “stack” (“SoftDevice”), XOSS SPRINT supports peripherals such as a power meter, heart rate monitor, and cadence and speed sensors.

The device features up to nine customized, high-resolution data displays and a 2.7-in (69-mm) reflective Memory LCD screen which the company claims supports good readability in sunlight, while its lithium polymer battery provides 37 hours of continuous GPS recording and three months or more of standby time – achieved in part by the Nordic SoC’s ultra low power capabilities.

Nordic’s nRF52832 mulptiprotocol SoC, a member of Nordic’s sixth generation of ultra low power (ULP) wireless connectivity solutions, combines an 64MHz, 32-bit ARM#174; Cortex#174; M4F processor with a 2.4GHz multiprotocol radio (supporting Bluetooth 5, ANT#8482;, and proprietary 2.4GHz RF software) featuring -96dB RX sensitivity, with 512kB Flash memory and 64kB RAM. When launched, the SoC was the world’s highest performance single-chip Bluetooth LE solution.

The SoC is supplied with Nordic’s S332 SoftDevice, a combination Bluetooth 5-certifed/ANT RF software protocol stack for building advanced Bluetooth LE and ANT applications. The S332 SoftDevice supports Central, Peripheral, Broadcaster and Observer Bluetooth LE roles, supports up to twenty connections, and enables concurrent role operation.

“The nRF52832 SoC meets the important power consumption requirements of the XOSS SPRINT, and the multiprotocol compatibility significantly simplifies our hardware design,” says Mao Feng, Hardware Leader at DaBuZiDuo.

“The ability to use Nordic’s Software Development Kit [SDK], along with the clean separation between the S332 SoftDevice and our own application code, supports the operation of the third-party real-time operating system [RTOS]. This impressive software protocol stack design adds great convenience to code preparation and maintenance.”
